Saturday, 28 September 2019: Brothel Outreach Training
This training is for volunteers interested in joining our dedicated brothel outreach team, and learning how to engage with women in a non-judgemental way. The training will cover how to be an effective outreach worker and keep yourself and the people you meet in brothels emotionally and physically safe. Be informed on how to observe and spot signs of human sexual trafficking and report them to Police. Lean to engage with women and offer our healing and recovery services.
WHERE: Clayton or South Melbourne (TBC)
TIME: Start at 1pm sharp for a 4pm finish, with a 15 mins break at 2.15pm.
To undertake the training you MUST be able to commit to a one day/night per week outreach, which is discussed prior to undertaking the training. This is all dependent on when registered people are available for outreach as a small group. You will only be trained if 4 women at least can outreach on the same day/night.
When the team is deemed ready, you will be left outreaching with your Team Coordinator, who will report to Pink Cross Australia’s CEO, Geneviève Gilbert.
NB: Men’s outreach training (meeting purchasers of sex on the street or in brothels as well as online) can be scheduled depending on demand. Emotionally mature professional men only, with a background in teaching, counselling, ministry, psychology or similar is preferred but not required.
All attendees to the outreach will be required to provide a Police Check.
